Dr. Monika Bhagat, a Consultant ENT and Cochlear Implant Surgeon in Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Pune, recently managed a complex case involving a 6-year-old boy who presented with unilateral nasal discharge, periorbital swelling, and fever, raising concerns for potential orbital complications due to sinusitis. Initially treated by a homeopath, the child’s condition worsened, leading to a referral for further evaluation. Diagnostic imaging revealed significant pansinusitis with abscess formation affecting the right eye. Despite initial medical treatment, surgical intervention was necessary. Using an endoscopic approach, Dr. Bhagat successfully drained the abscess, resulting in marked symptom improvement within 48 hours. Post-surgery, the child was placed on targeted antibiotics and corticosteroids, ultimately leading to a complete resolution of orbital swelling and no residual complications.
